Loss of Mom

  • I wanted to make a painting about my mother that captured how I saw her as she died. I started with a sketch I made during the time she was living. However, the emotions I experienced in my grief were so difficult to capture, that a sketch was far too literal. I added layer after layer of paint, trying to capture what I felt, until this painting resulted.
